This beautiful mermaid wreath is made on an 18″ grapevine form (made in USA) that extending to about 20″ with the greenery and bow. The mermaid cutout measures 16″ long x 10″ wide (tail to fin). I painted the top side of the mermaid with a tan color. I then decorated the wooden mermaid’s cutout with two clam shells to cover her rear (lol) together with seasnails running along the length of her tail. I gave it a coat of seafoam green paint along the tail. I added an additional layer of air-dry clay to her fin, and above her rear shells and on her upper back, are matching bathing suit extension accent and top. The bottom part of the mermaid has an additional coat of clear glitter. While the mermaid cutout has hair as part of the wooden sign, I wanted to make it come alive by giving it a 3D wavy blond hair that’s finished with a green starfish over the side of her hair. After several weeks of working on it, drying it, having it cured completely, etc. I was able to assemble it with a variety of seashells, sea sponge, sea kelp, sea grass, seaweed, fishing net, ocean floor vegetation, some of which are glittery and match the theme colors (blush pink and seafoam green). All seashells and seasnails are real; the pink and seafoam green starfish are made by me with airdry clay and then a coat of clear glitter. Sea kelp, sea vegetations, and sea sponge mimic the real ocean floor vegetation. On the right side of the mermaid, I let cascading silk orchid blooms and plastic dogwood blooms that have a shine, wet feel and look just like they look when submerged in the water. The bow on the left is made with a quality seafoam green ribbon, and a glittery seafoam green ribbon along with pink glittery vegetation sprays. To finish the wreath, I added clear, round, mini beads all over the circumference of the wreath to imitate the sea water and its bubbles (can’t see them from picture of video because they are clear).
